Right now you may only be experiencing nothing more than discomfort but without making lifestyle changes to get your acid reflux disease under control your acid reflux symptoms will become worse and in the long term can be harmful.

In order to get rid of the lingering symptoms that can sometimes be a part of reflux, such as stomach pain, slight headaches or hoarseness, you will want to make sure that you reduce your stress level as much as possible. You can do this may making sure that you enjoy yourself with friends and family by taking time out from work a few times a week.

You should also make sure that you are getting your exercise in every week. Walking, riding a bike and jogging are all great ways to make sure that your acid reflux disease doesn’t flare up too often and taking up activities like yoga and meditation are good ways to relax your mind and body as well.

When you go out for a meal wear loose clothes as tight ones aggravate the discomfort caused by acid reflux disease. Make sure the belt you are wearing as a few notches left so you can slacken it off if need be.

You are going to need to cut down on the alcohol as well as it is known to aggravate acid reflux and if you smoke you are simply aiding the acid reflux disease in eroding your esophagus so you need to cut it out straight away. Quitting smoking will also help you regain the strength in your heart which will aid your recovery.

There is also no getting away from the fact that you are going to have to make some changes to your eating habits if you are to get your acid reflux disease under control. First thing you will need to do is cut out the heavy foods such as Italian pasta based dishes and fried foods.

If you find your attacks come after almost all types of meals start snacking through the day rather than sitting down to a large breakfast/ evening meal.
